Tile & Grout Cleaning Service

Let us help you get the grime out of your grout!

Our customers health and well-being is our #1 concern.

Protect Your Porous Grout!

Grout is extremely porous, at the microscopic level, which is why grout is almost always sealed after tile is installed.  The problem is that most homeowners are not aware of how important it is to keep grout sealed by resealing it every year, perhaps more frequently in high traffic areas.  But before you reseal, make sure that all of the grime is thoroughly removed from the grout.  And remember that if you wait to long to clean the grout acids may have eaten away your sealer, causing dirt to make its way into the pores of the grout.

To clean grout, use a stiff cleaning brush, and a watery baking soda mixture.  You can find grout brushes online or at your local tool store, in the flooring section.  Just be sure to seal the grout AFTER you clean, not before.  You wouldn’t want to seal in any dirt into the grout lines.

Marble, Travertine, & Natural Stone

Natural stone flooring is durable, beautiful, and easy to clean – well, except the grout and with certain types of marble. For example, Carrara marble can develop mineral streaks and blemishes, as a result of being in a damp environment or regularly exposed to moisture. This moisture can come from a variety of sources. It can be from a daily shower steam or even come up from your first floor concrete sub-floor. In most parts of the country, sub-floor moisture is constantly up-welling from ground moisture. Some places, even two adjacent neighborhoods, depending on grade (topographical feature) and soil qualities, can experience more sub-floor moisture than others. It is often the case that problems with stone appearance can be resolved by a good thorough polishing by a reputable stone flooring contractor.

Tile and Grout Cleaning

This is not a task fit for most floor cleaning technicians – not that there is a significant risk of an inexperienced technician ruining your floor – it’s just that the results, when polished properly, can be stunningly beautiful and long lasting.  Please note that it is not easy work to perform and you would be required to section off accessibility to the tiled parts of your home for at least a day or two.

About Grout Sealers

Grout sealers can be quite toxic.  In most cases, we recommend leaving the home for 2-4 hours and we recommend opening all windows and keeping your HVAC running immediately after the grout has been sealed.  If this is not possible, at least leave two windows open nearby the tiled area.  There are a few options for eco-friendly grout sealers, but I have found most of these to be ineffective.  When sealing your grout, just remember that the VOCs that are released into the indoor air is temporary.  Once the grout sealer has fully dried, these carcinogenic VOCs can linger for hours in your home’s air.  Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) has always been and will continue to be Angel Dry’s number one concern – for the health and well-being of the customers and family’s that we serve.
